Hot Air Ballooning requires very particular weather conditions for a safe and enjoyable flight to take place. The winds need to be light, with no rain and good visibility.

In order to make sure that the weather will be suitable for the duration of the flight we obtain an aviation forecast from the Met Office.

The Met Office is the sole provider of aviation weather in the UK and we receive our weather information from their web based aviation service, which offers current weather for aviators who operate from non-airport locations.

The forecast will be valid for the duration of the flight and include the following information:

• Wind speed and direction. Surface, 500ft, 1000ft and 2000ft.
• Thermal Activity.
• Sea Breezes.
• Lee Waves.
• Surface Temperature.
• Visibility.
• Precipitation.
• Cloud.
